Wireless Alarm System – Advantages and Disadvantages

Wireless home security alarm system has become the most interesting choice in alarm system. Wireless alarm system is designed to alert the occupants of a building to certain kind of danger like burglary or a fire in the building. This system is usually battery powered and using wireless signals which transmitted on a specific frequency using line carrier, infrared or radio waves. This kind of security system is not only to detect intruders but also from danger in the field. The extra capabilities are served by extra features installed such as smoke and gas detector, water detector, low temperature detector, and motion sensor. How the wireless alarm systems responding to danger is also the main advantages. Some system practically contacts the nearest police station when danger is detected. While some other basic system only emits a loud noise to warn the occupants.

The main advantage of the wireless alarm system is it is impossible to be cut out of the system. The wired system might be cut out and make it useless. Wireless system can be more dependable from the wired system. As the wired system is cut it no longer serve its basic function differently with the wireless system. Another advantage of the wireless system is its capabilities to contact the police automatically as the problem is detected. Wired system may have done this feature also but when the phone line is cut than this feature is also impaired. Wireless system also performs flexibilities as they can be put in any place.

The most disadvantage of the wireless system is its source of energy. Wireless system use battery in order to get energy, and like any other battery it cannot be long lasting. Luckily some models can be plug into the wall outlet. Signal strength can be a disadvantage as well. Some model due to weak power its signal cannot penetrate multiple walls. When this happen the signals is not being receive and the system not functioning. This will leave you open to any threat. In addition the strength signals can also be interfere by various storms like electrical storms, snow storms, and any bad weather.
